Cybersecurity Summit for Government Contractors Virtual - November 2020 - Session 1

Cybersecurity Summit | Morning Session

As we enter the final calendar quarter of 2020, we’ve all been challenged, and somewhat hobbled by Covid-19.  This Pandemic is not the only virus we need to worry about.  Despite all the other distractions happening in our business day, we cannot take our eye off monitoring for viruses, ransomware, malware created by a host of characters wanting to snoop, hold hostage, destroy or create havoc within our cyber infrastructures.

This virtual Cybersecurity Summit will discuss the top priorities including and beyond COVID-19 that government and businesses are facing within the government contracting industry.  We will examine the legal and regulatory framework of cybersecurity, insurance perils and protections, employees working remotely and global policy on cybersecurity as we play out a very sophisticated game of hide and seek with our adversaries and rogue organizations.

AM Session Topics:
Opening Session - State of the Industry, IT Modernization and Cyber Spend

Chris Cornillie, Bloomberg Government

How is the DIB Supply Chain, Particulary SMBs, Supported in Operationalizing CMMC with an accelerated, audit-ready posture?
Katie Arrington, CISO A&S, United States Department of Defense
Ed Bassett, NeoSystems
Michael Baker, CISO, General Dynamics Information Technology

Neal Beggan, Principal, Risk Assurance & Advisory, Cherry Bekaert

This panel will unite perspectives from the author of CMMC, Katie Arrington, CISO A&S, DoD, and industry experts on the ground.  We’ll have a briefing on the latest program posture and how it’s being absorbed into action.

Goodbye 2020, Hello NextGen Government Regs – Your Guide to CMMC Implementation
Timothy Trickett, Chief Technology Officer, BDO
Ed Bassett, NeoSystems
Perry Keating, Protiviti

The theft of intellectual property and sensitive information from all industrial sectors due to malicious cyber activity is a threat to economic and national security, and on January 31, 2020 the U.S. Department of Defense took action. They released the first version of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Since that time, there has been a flurry of activity as companies try to understand and prepare for the pending CMMC requirements. But what is it, and how does it affect your business?
This session will take you step by step through the Next Generation of U.S. cybersecurity regulations, requirements, and framework, describe what you need to do to be prepared for the immediate future, and provide simple steps to ensure that your company is in compliance with the new certification model. In this session, we will cover the following:
  • Today’s US Government Cybersecurity Regulations
  • What Is CMMC and Why is It Important?
  • CMMC Framework and Requirements
  • CMMC Audit Preparation

NOTE: On-Demand Virtual Course sessions are not eligible for CLE/CPE credits.

In this position, she serves as the central hub and integrator within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, OUSD(A&S), to align acquisition cyber strategy.

As the CISO (A), Ms. Arrington is responsible to ensure the incorporation of integrated security/cyber efforts within USD(A&S) with the purpose of providing a focused and streamlined governance approach and to provide a central coordination point and common compliance standard that serves to synchronize the various existing disparate cyber security efforts and standards across the Department and Industry as it relates to A&S equities.

Ms. Arrington is leading efforts that will help to ensure a robust Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM), establish Defense Industrial Base Security and Resilience, and establish a common standard in Cyber Security Standards. She also meets with key Cyber personnel (across both DoD and Federal Agencies) as well as legislators to ensure that changes made in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) are supportive in reaching the goals of decreased spending and increased compliance with current and future standards.
Before assuming her position in OUSD(A&S), Ms. Arrington had an extensive career as a legislator and senior cyber executive. Ms. Arrington was a candidate for South Carolina US House of Representative 2018 and a South Carolina State Representative for 2 terms. She has substantial experience and capabilities in cyber strategy, policy, enablement and implementation across a wide range of domains, including DoD, Federal, Healthcare and State. She acquired her experience in cyber over the past 15 years with Booz Allen Hamilton, Centuria Corporation and Dispersive Networks.
