Make or Break: the Impact of Third Party Providers on CMMC
By now, most DoD contractors are aware of the coming requirement for third-party audit and certification of their cybersecurity practices under the DoD's new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program. The CMMC Accreditation Body recently launched program details for the ecosystem of auditors and consultants that will support DoD contractors in becoming certified, ahead of the phased roll-out of CMMC requirements in DoD contracts that begins in Fall 2020. Many contractors rely on third-party service providers, including IT managed service providers (MSPs) and cloud service providers (CSPs), to provide critical IT and cybersecurity support. Understanding the role third-party service providers play in CMMC certification is a "make or break" moment for many contractors that rely on these services. During this webinar, we will discuss the key considerations for contractors using third-party service providers to manage IT and cybersecurity, including: understanding the role service providers play in building cybersecurity maturity; compliance requirements for third-party service providers under DFARS and CMMC; questions to ask IT service providers to vet their security posture and gauge their readiness to support clients subject to CMMC; and much more. Join Ryan Heidorn and Ryan Bonner of Steel Root for a discussion with Tim Trickett of BDO on how to ensure your service providers are ready for CMMC.
