Overview

Experience the same collaboration, instructor interaction and learning benefits as if you were physically in the classroom.  Please register at least 2 weeks before the course to ensure that course materials can be shipped to you in time for the start of class.

Who should attend:

Government Contractors, Contract Administrators, Procurement/Acquisition professionals, Finance, Accounting and Cost Professionals, Proposal Specialists and anyone with a desire to learn.

Prerequisite:

Should have at least six months of contract experience, have taken the FAR Workshop or another basic FAR course before this course.

What you will learn:

The Advanced FAR Workshop provides an in-depth analysis of the most important parts of the FAR.

In this two-day class, we will focus on those FAR Parts that tend to generate the most issues and questions, specifically:

• The classification of workers
• Intellectual Property
• Small Business Contracting
• The Buy American Act and the Trade Agreements Act
• Ethics, Conflicts of Interest and Organizational Conflicts of Interest
• GSA Contracting
• Subcontracting Issues, Flowdowns and Purchasing System Reviews
• Novation Agreements
• Terminations of Contracts

Students will gain a practical understanding of these areas so they can comply with the complex requirements of these FAR Parts and avoid pitfalls by anticipating and resolving potential problems. We will start with an analysis and explanation of the FAR Parts listed above and follow with a review of key sections of the corresponding clauses. This coverage will be augmented by case studies and a review of actual contract documents that we will use as the foundation for further class discussions. The objectives of this class are to ensure that students develop a comprehensive knowledge of what the rules are, what they mean, why they were issued and how they can be applied to maximum advantage.

In addition, we will cover the most important, and sometimes controversial, FAR changes and explain their likely impacts on your participation in the federal contracting process.

Materials include:

  • 2 Volume Annotated Federal Acquisition Regulation Deskbook
  • Course Manual
  • Handouts
