Mind Frame Shift: C-Suite and Corporate Board Responsibility to Managing Cyber Risk
Larry Clinton, President & CEO, Internet Security Alliance

With systems getting technologically weaker, the attack community becoming better and economics all favor the attackers, it is important for boards and the C-Suite to remember that Cybercrime is not an “IT” issue: it’s an enterprise-wide risk management and business issue.  Breaches and threats are increasing and leadership must develop a thorough understanding of the varying legal environments and adopting new audit processes (and working collaboratively with the audit community). They should be aware of the importance of hiring and maintaining experts who provide adequate consideration of cyber issues, and directing senior management to develop a framework for dealing with threats (& test it.)  This keynote will elevate the continued “server room to boardroom” discussion and provide an alternative perspective to the corporate war against cybercrime.

Cloud security continues to be of great importance to government contractors. Virtualization is a critical part of cloud computing and provides an important layer of abstraction from physical hardware, enabling the elasticity and resource pooling commonly associated with cloud. Virtualized operating systems are the backbone of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Recent developments in software defined networking (SDN) show great potential to virtualize data networks in the same way that operating systems have been virtualized. This panel will examine these trends, and will speak to how these industry developments will shape the future for government contracting in the cloud.

According to FedScoop, “Office of Management and Budget (OMB) officials outlined several plans to reshape the federal workforce within the budget plan, including $50Million fund to improve federal recruitment and retention of personnel as new technologies disrupt (some) jobs.” But the problem is not unique to the Federal Government as all organizations are struggling to find and retain talent.

We will discuss this critical labor shortage and offer some insights into what the academic and business community is doing to train, hire and retain talent.
