Two concentrated days on how to understand and use the Federal Acquisition Regulation in your daily contracting activities including an in-depth analysis of the FAR system, the key contract clauses and contract forms. Provides comprehensive coverage of the FAR for new users and an advanced treatment of specific issues for experienced contract professionals.
As the name indicates, this course is a workshop. The instructor and students will work through practical exercises specifically designed to demonstrate how to work with the FAR. Students will develop and refine the skills necessary to apply the FAR to virtually any acquisition situation. The FAR provides considerable flexibility in many aspects of federal procurement. Often, however, buyers and sellers are unfamiliar with the range of discretion in the FAR. This course will distinguish between those sections of the FAR that are mandatory and those that allow the parties to structure the contract to fit the situation.

Every year, since 1972, we have offered a specially conceived, advanced program in government contracting: The Masters Institute In Government Contracting. We are pleased to once again offer the Institute–completely updated for this year’s presentations.
The first day examines the “system” of government contracting and how it works. The second day dissects changes and equitable adjustments and includes a copy of the definitive text on changes for each participant. The third day is devoted to source selection issues and contract negotiations. The fourth day examines and explores claims and termination issues. The fifth day explains costs, critical developments in costs, and the cost accounting standards.
A Practical Guide to the Incurred Cost Submission

The workshop provides a detailed, step by step guide to the preparation and development of the Incurred Cost Submission (ICS). It begins with an explanation of accounting requirements such as the rules for allowability and allocability required to facilitate the successful completion of an ICS. The seminar also analyzes the different types of indirect rate structures used by contractors and delineates how companies should develop and present indirect rate structures and claimed costs as a part of these submissions.
