SESSION OVERVIEWS

Cybersecurity - Past, Current, and Future Changes in Legislation and Actions
This session is a look-back on 2017 with major events and legislation impacting organizations' cyber policies and procedures. We will also discuss current and future developments certain to further shape the industry and how we conduct business.

Blockchain - Demystified
Blockchain is described as linking of records with timestamps and other identifiable bits of information using a crytopgraphic hash. First developed during the early bitcoin days, it is a real-time financial ledger recording and linking financial information, contracts and other information together. Recent news and use of blockchain has grown exponentially. Learn what it is, the risks, and challenges it presents to organizations of all sizes.

Government Spending in Cybersecurity
Session covers the past few years of cybersecurity spending in the federal government. Also, get an understanding of what cybersecurity spending looks like today and what we can expect in the future, including how the government is buying cybersecurity (contracts, agencies, set-asides, etc.).

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Not Just for the EU
GDPR is gaining some awareness. In 2016, the EU enacted and asked member states to strengthen data protection by 2018. Because of the interconnected world of technology, this has influence on U.S. based organizations - who need to understand GDPR impact on their compliance.

Cloud Security and Virtualization

Data Breach Watch - The Who, What, Where and When

Workforce Readiness - Hiring Talent to Fill the Shortage of Qualified Tech Workers
According to FedScoop, “Office of Management and Budget (OMB) officials outlined several plans to reshape the federal workforce within the budget plan, including $50Million fund to improve federal recruitment and retention of personnel as new technologies disrupt (some) jobs.” This problem is not unique to the Federal Government as all organizations are struggling to find and retain talent.

We will discuss this critical labor shortage and offer some insights into what the academic and business community is doing to train, hire and retain talent.
