Federal Publications Seminars, a Thomson West business, is a leading provider of practical, high-quality courses and materials for contract professionals. With more than 40 years experience in the field, we offer hundreds of public seminars – plus the cost effective option of on-site courses – that cover the full spectrum of contracting subjects.
Faculty
Our instructors are full-time working professionals. They are leading practitioners from law and accounting firms, federal agencies, companies, and universities, who teach the most current and practical information available. These instructors use an adult-learning methodology, one that is participative and recognizes the experience and abilities of seminar participants.
Method
This methodology is student-oriented. Courses and seminars are offered for new, experienced, and veteran contract professionals alike - all who must stay on top of new, developing subject areas. These principles guide this approach:
- Adult-learning methodology - An open highly participative forum, with questions and discussion, involves students and recognizes their experience and ability to relate to new and changing concepts.
- Lifelong learning - Studies show that the more training and education a person has, the easier it is to learn new things. Change is a constant and thus demands continuous learning, which makes it easier to adapt to and manage change and create new opportunities.
- Education is ignition, not injection – The best courses build on the experience of the student. They ignite a student's interest and provide resources for further study. Knowing where to go to find an answer is an important skill for students.
- The litmus test - The most valuable courses provide learning that can be immediately applied on the job.
